Short films can take an audience through several different worlds in the time a single feature might occupy. The fourth Fuquay Film Festival returns to the Arts Center on November 13–14, with short films from across the country and opportunities to look behind the finished work.
The official listing gives Friday hours of 6–9 p.m. and Saturday hours of 9 a.m.–8 p.m. An all-festival pass is advertised at $20 for activities across both days. The venue is at 123 East Vance Street; consult the current program and ticket page for availability, scheduling and any additional checkout charges.
Workshops and panels are included in the announced mix. Choose sessions by interest instead of assuming a pass requires staying for every hour. A screening followed by a discussion can offer a satisfying first festival experience, especially when a question about editing, sound or storytelling catches your attention.
After a film, pause before moving straight to the next one. Which image or choice stayed with you, and what made it effective? Bringing that kind of question to a discussion can make a local festival feel participatory while leaving room for other viewers to have a very different response.
